case studies

We've done some great work for our clients, see below for just a sample of the work we've recently produced.

The BIG book of Lymphoedema

As Open Door Design's first venture into children's books and with a personal attachment too, this was always going to prove a demanding project. The follow up to the 'By George…It's Scrummy' cook book of 2008 (which was produced to raise funds for this project), provided us with a lot to live up to!

Jacquelyne Tood (Author) and The Leeds Lymphoedema Service commissioned us to produce this unique book for children with lymphoedema aged between 1 and 10 years. It is designed to educate children by helping them understand what lymphoedema is and what they can do to control it.

The book includes a series of activities, information and practical help and advice for both sufferers and parents alike and has been designed in a very specific way with commissioned illustrations and graphical imagery. There are also interactive elements with hidden doors and windows where more information can be found.

The book was launched at the International Lymphoedema Conference held at Royal Ascot between 21st and 24th April 2009, organised by Wounds UK and attended by professionals, carers and patients with lymphoedema. Our Key Account Manager, Duncan, who's nephew suffers with lymphoedema, was there on the opening day of the conference to help launch the book and found the feedback excellent for all concerned and as a result we are now looking into the possibilities of producing it in as many as 10 other languages.

As a project we produced a number of items including a delegate voucher for the conference, roller banners for the exhibition and of course, the book itself! Future projects may include a book for teenagers and a dedicated website.
