Awards to be proud of!

The West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service Awards ceremony took place on Friday 2nd October 2009 at the Cedar Court Hotel in Bradford in honour of firefighters and members of the public who have undertaken acts of bravery over and above the call of duty.

As one of the main sponsors of these awards Open Door Design was proud to be attributed to the prestigious award for hero of the year. Key Account Manager Duncan Cleave presented the award with Phil Squire from BBC Radio Leeds to member of the public Jason Jackson who caught a woman from an upstairs window to escape fire. He then entered the heavily smoked-filed building to rescue a second person from the ground floor, emerging just as the ground floor became engulfed in flames.

The evening included drinks reception, four course meal and entertainment and was well supported with celebrity endorsements and speeches from CFO Simon Pilling and the Fire Minister Shahid Malik.

Congratulations to all those who won awards, but those who didn't should too be honoured for their bravery and contributions to society.

We are all already looking forward to next years event!
