It’s Movember: Raising money to support male cancer initiatives via the gift of facial hair

"What's Movember?" I hear you say. Well if you didn't already know; during November each year thousands of men around the world take part in growing their moustaches for one whole month. And the reason for this mass hair growth is to raise vital funds and awareness for men's health, specifically prostate cancer and other cancers that affect men.

The rules are simple. On November the 1st you start with a clean-shaven face and then throughout the month continue to let your moustache grow right up until the final day of November. It's during this time that you try to seek out sponsorship for your Mo-growing efforts.

So this year, I've decided to take the plunge, do away with the beard and let my tache grow proud. After all, it's such a worthy cause as all proceeds go The Prostate Cancer Charity and The Institute of Cancer Research.

What's more I'll be documenting my facial growth with 1 photo a day and the resulting photos will be edited into a time-lapse video for all to see. Furthermore, it will contribute to a larger scale film, which is being put together by British filmmaker and blogger Phillip Bloom.

Movember fundraisers can join http://uk.movember.com and donations are made through individual profiles. Fundrasiers can join teams, so that their donations are totalled together. I'm part of Team Bloom Tache, which includes an 88-strong team of mo-growers who will each submit their photo a day and be featured in the final video.

You can visit my mo-space page at http://mobro.co/TommyChappers and make a donation if you wish. All donations go directly to the Movember Foundation.

Thank you… LET'S TACHE UP.

Tom
