The London Night Jump 2011

We spent one amazing weekend at the 2011 London Night Jump… (And we've got the video to prove it)!

August bank holiday weekend saw the 2011 London Night Jump take place at Liquid Leisure in Datchet, Berkshire. Sponsored by MasterCraft, the event consists of a Freestyle Motor X stunt show during the day, a wakeboard competition in the late evening and the main Ski Jump final at night. Now in its 10th year, it attracts some of the world's best Waterski jumpers who compete to have their skill and senses pushed to the limit in the pitch-black surroundings.

We travelled down with our friends from MasterCraft to lend a helping hand and as a bonus, we documented the entire weekend on video. Not only did we capture highlights of the event but we also grabbed some behind the scenes footage illustrating all the hard work that goes into making this type of extreme sports event run smoothly.

The official towboat was the MasterCraft World Tournament Team Edition ProStar 197 with the new and rather special Ilmor 6.0L power plant resulting in the "strongest" jump boat ever.

The night jump itself was the most competitive the event had ever seen, with Team MasterCraft's Freddy "the Nightmare" Krueger leaping a whopping 69.4m on his first jump, securing the number one spot and earning him the title of 2011 MasterCraft London Night Jump Champion. This proved to be his third consecutive win in a row, not to mention his winning jump being a course record. He was followed by Scot "the Rocketman" Ellis in second place with 65.4m and Thomas Asher in third place with 63.8m.

Check out some the footage below. We think some of the best scenes we captured were just as the sunset, providing the perfect tone for the action that was to follow and sums up a legendary weekend!
